Maybe you’ve had a friend that was leaving the party and they were dancing on the edge; probably safe to drive but had you worried. “I’m okay, I got this” they say. “Alright, call when you get home so I know you made it safe and sound.”
And they do but, you don’t feel relieved because you realize that a person is going to make their own choices and you can’t protect them from everything. You hope that next time they act with a clear head but, who knows? The realization that life is a crapshoot. That’s where this song is coming from.
lyrics
The wisdom that comes
With each fall from grace
The lines on my face are no consolation
So much unsaid
So much unseen
It's in between constellations
I'm going home
I got a clear head
I hit the highway
I'm going home
I'm going home
I got a clear head
I go my own way
I'm going home
I'm going home
I got a clear head
I hit the highway
I'm going home
I'm going home
I got a clear head
I go my own way
I'm going home
